STAMFORD -- A Bridgeport man charged in the slaying of Greenwich real estate developer Andrew Kissel was acquitted of murder Thursday in state Superior Court, but the jury was hung on the attempted murder count.

As a result, a judge declared a mistrial on the attempted murder charge.

The verdict comes three days after the 12-panel jury first began deliberations.

Carlos Trujillo, 49, of Bridgeport, was facing charges of attempted murder and murder in connection Kissel's death. Kissel was found stabbed to death inside the basement of his rented backcountry home on April 2, 2006.
