HELSINKI (AP) -- Nokia Corp. has announced that it will adopt Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Phone as its main platform on smart phones, in a major change of strategy.

The world's largest mobile phone maker says it will work closely with Windows Phone "innovating on top of the platform in areas such as imaging, where Nokia is a market leader."

The announcement came hours before Nokia's new CEO Stephen Elop was expected to tell analysts at a meeting in London how he plans to revive the ailing company that has lost market share and credibility in the top-end smart phone sector.
